Jewelry loans on the Internet are a new concept. Below we answer some common questions. If you have a question that is not here please e-mail us at loans@gmodell.com

Can I call or e-mail you for a free appraisal?

Yes! You can e-mail us at loans@gmodell.com, fill out the forms or call us toll free at 1-888-354-0737. Once you have described the piece or e-mailed a photograph, we will then provide a free loan appraisal. All loan appraisals are without charge and there is never an obligation.

Can you tell me how your terms and interest rates compare with others?

Fill in the form, call or e-mail for the interest rate in the state that you reside. You will be amazed how much we can save you!

How much can I borrow?

Depending on the jewelry that you send us, we offer loans of between $50 to $500,000.

How should I send my jewelry?

Send your jewelry by US Postal Service insured. Your shipment will be examined in our 47th Street office. We will immediately contact you by telephone, fax or e-mail. If you decline the loan, we will return the jewelry the same day and charge you the shipping costs.

You may also select Brinks to transport your jewelry. Brinks can pick up and transport your jewelry to our 47th Street office where we will examine your jewelry and determine the value of the loan. If you decline Brinks will return the shipment to you. Call or e-mail us for details and costs.

What packaging should I use?

To send insured items with the US Postal Service, you need to send them in a mailing box. These are available at most post offices or stationary stores at minimal cost.

What other documents should I send?

Voided check (for wiring of funds to your account) and a copy of a valid photoID. A photoID includes any official ID that has your name, signature and a picture of you (i.e. state driving license, passport, green card, employer ID etc.). You can either include copies of these documents with your shipment or fax them to us.

What will happen when you receive my jewelry?

Once we receive your shipment, we will determine its loan value. We will immediately contact you and approve or decline your loan that day. Modell loan appraisals are guaranteed top dollar, which means Modell will match or better any collateral loan agreement from any other loanbroker source, to market value. Special attention is made to attorneys, banking institutions and estates.

How safe will my jewelry be?

Modell has been in business for 107 years and has earned the highest reputation in the business community. If you are concerned about security, we will be happy to supply financial and trade references.

Is my merchandise insured?

Yes, by Lloyds of London. The coverage is all risk while in our possession for double the amount of the loan.

What happens to my jewelry if I decline the loan?

If you decline the loan, Modell will return your merchandise to you the same day.

What happens when you accept my loan?

When we approve your loan, we will store your collateral in a bank vault and you will receive an itemized receipt redeemable upon repayment of your loan. We will wire the funds to your account (if you included a voided personal check with your shipment) or mail a check to you. Our interest rates are regulated by the laws of New York State. We are bonded and licensed by the City of New York. Your collateral is secured in vaults and under constant 24 hour protection.

How quickly can I get the money I need?

Upon your approval, the funds will be wired into your account the same day or if we will mail your check to you. Upon completion of the transaction, we will send you a loan ticket with a receipt that must be signed and returned to us in the enclosed stamped and self-addressed envelope.
